Mark is CEO of Impact Pumps. With an engineering degree from the University of Cambridge and over 25 years of experience working in high-tech industries, Mark is delighted to be able to focus his knowledge and passion for driving positive change to make durable water pumps available globally.
Co-founder and CTO, Tom wanted to apply his Physics and Engineering background and his interest in agriculture to help improve the lives of millions of people in developing countries sustainably. With a PhD in engineering, Tom is the inventor of numerous award-winning energy and water related technologies including the Impact Pump.
As an Experimental Technician, Lynne has been essential to the development of the Impact Pump. Lynne has worked on many smallholder irrigation projects in East Africa and Asia, and wants to improve the access to water of millions of people through technologies such as the Impact Pump.
Product Director, Cai has specialised his career in designing, manufacturing, and selling low-cost water supplies to smallholder farmers and rural households, primarily in East Africa. He sees improving off-grid water supply products as the most effective way to be of value to underserved rural communities.
Tracy oversees Impact Pumps purchasing activities and financial systems. Tracy has over 30 years of experience in accountancy practices in purchasing, bookkeeping, accounts, and auditing roles.
As a Field Engineer, Bart runs an Impact Pumps test site on his farm in the UK. Here he puts Impact Pumps prototypes through their paces with extensive building, modification, and commissioning of prototypes, as well as running tests and data gathering.
Steve combines 20 years sales expertise in the pump and renewables sectors with proven engineering insight. He sees the game-changing potential of the innovative SolarPlex and FlexExtend products, enhancing people’s lives with improved access to affordable, reliable water.
Eleanor is our Marketing Associate and has been working alongside us to reimagine our website and marketing strategy. After obtaining her English and Philosophy degree from the University of York in 2020, Eleanor worked as the head of operations and content creation at a startup on the other side of Oxfordshire, gaining real insight into the inner workings of business and marketing strategy.
Sharon is responsible for the smooth running of the Impact Pumps website. She has worked with low carbon innovators in the cleantech sector since 2007, providing design consultancy and support on branding, and digital design.
Richard originally started working with Impact Pumps as the Wellcome Trust’s expert representative on our Research Steering Group. His invaluable advice has kept us sharply focused on the challenges facing smallholders, water service providers and communities around the world, and the sustainability of the water resources that they depend on.
Richard Carter has a distinguished career in Water and Sanitation spanning more than 40 years. Widely recognised as one of the world’s pre-eminent authorities in the sector, he has taught numerous WASH leaders, both at Cranfield University, where he was Professor of International Water Development, and as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Cambridge. He has held prominent positions including Chair of the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN) from 2011-13 and Head of Technical Support at WaterAid from 2009-2012. Over his consultancy and academic career, he has provided expert advice to governments, water Foundations and policy makers through his consultancy Richard Carter & Associates Ltd.
Dan leads the Power Electronics Group at Oxford University. He has been involved in numerous collaborations across academia and industry spanning large-scale energy storage systems, automotive and aerospace power electronics, and the design, control and optimisation of DC microgrids. A recognised expert in electrical power conversion and control, he has also provided consultancy services to Impact Pumps in this field since 2019. Dan’s work lies at the core of our power electronics capabilities, which drive our SolarPlex pump product range and Thermofluidics’ novel PV-electrolytic chlorinator.
