Suction Lift Extender

Your Guide To The Suction Lift Extender

Upgrade your surface pump to lift deeper water

Imagine the water level in your well dropping in the dry season enough to render your surface pump useless. Instead of purchasing a new pump, the Impact Pumps suction lift extender is a new technology that enables surface pumps to lift water reliably from deeper wells. The SLX-40-S can help you when nothing else can.

What’s inside the box?

The SLX-40 range is supplied complete with a borehole assembly (pictured), a well head assembly and all the surface fittings you need.

Better than a submersible pump – and without electricity!

Raising water from more than 7 metres below ground usually requires “submersible” pumps that “push” water up from below. This means submerging electric motors, impellers, and sliding seals below the waterline, where dirty water and volatile water levels regularly cause pumps to wear out “run dry” and break. This isn’t a problem with the SLX-40-S.

As your water table drops to lower levels, the SLX-40-S will keep your surface pump running, unlike other products that only function in shallow wells. And unlike other submersible pump products, the Impact PumpsSLX-40 will not overheat or fail if dry running occurs.

So what is the SLX-40?

SLX-40 is the “fit and forget” submersible suction lift extender.  It is silent, reliable and energy efficient. SLX-40 has a high-performance level, which means that it can run continuously without any problems. The pump will continue to run day after day, year after year.

We are so confident in this technology that the SLX-40-S comes with a 5 year warranty!

Advantages of the SLX-40

5 year warranty

The Impact Pumps SLX-40-S is the first pump of its kind to come with a full 5 year warranty, giving you peace of mind over other submersibles. Servicing and parts will be provided free of charge to customers over the warranty period.

Easily user maintained

Minimal pump downtime is the aim with any Impact Pumps product. Any occasional maintenance is easy to do at the surface well head without the difficulty of removing and re-installing submerged equipment and ensures reliable water supply day after day, year after year. So the SLX-40 will not only save you time and money once installed, but also from the maintenance aspect.

Zero submerged electronics

Electrical connections down the well are a common failure point of other submersible pumps. The Impact Pumps SLX-40 removes this worry with zero submerged electronics and premium materials.

Pumps sand, silt, and grit

Sand, silt and grit are commonplace in rural water supplies. The Impact Pumps SLX-40 has been specifically designed to be tolerant of particulates in water. This means that no matter what type of soil you have on your property, the SLX 40 will be able to handle it with ease.

No air-lock issues

In an SLX installation, all surface components are pressurised, so air-lock issues that can trouble surface pumps no longer occur.

No long cables

There are no long cables trailing the height of the well, like you’ll see with other deep water solutions, which can be easily damaged and even attract lightning strikes.

Backup options

Conventional pumps cannot lift water if they’re broken or when the sun doesn’t shine. With an SLX-40, the surface pump can be swapped for a replacement solar, petrol pump, grid energy, or human powered backup in less than 2 minutes.

It’s a revolution in groundwater lifting

Increased suction lift capability means more resilience against droughts and dry summers, especially as the rains become less reliable as the climates change. The SLX-40 outperforms other solutions on the market. Like for like, correctly installed surface pumps are more efficient, more reliable and cheaper than their submersible pump equivalents.

How does it work? The Joukowski effect

  1. The SLX uses the Joukowski effect to bounce water up to where your surface pump can access it.
  2. Water is pumped down the well using the surface pump
  3. Extra water is drawn in by the SLX-40 (up to 3,000 L/hour)
  4. Your tank is filled with the extra water, and a small amount of water recirculates into the surface pump

How it’s installed

The SLX-40 is installed at the water level and connects to the inlet hose of your surface pump, extending the reach of your irrigation equipment and increasing the total vertical head of your water system! Our SLX-40 is compatible with solar and petrol surface pumps, and rivals costly submersible systems while boasting zero submerged electronics.

The Impact of the SLX-40 range

With the SLX-40, you’ll also be able to reuse rainwater for your crops and livestock, saving money on water bills and providing your home, plants, and livestock with a healthy supply of H2O. And in addition to being eco-friendly and cost-effective, it’s also quick to install, so you’ll be up and running quickly—and not spending any more time or money than necessary on getting water where and when you need it.
